FAQ
Mattress Design and Materials
Common materials used in our mattresses are as follows:
Spring: Spring is the oldest and most common material in mattresses. Traditional spring mattresses use steel wires to connect and fix the springs together; which we call Bonnell Springs. Since the springs are connected together, the mattress overall has strong support for your body structure. However after the development of Bonnell spring, another spring system called pocket spring coil system was developed. In a pocket coil spring system, each spring is independently packed into a non-woven bag and independently compresses. Therefore, it reduce movement vibration on larger beds when two ore more people sleep on the same mattress.
Latex: Latex is extracted from oak tree sap. Natural latex has antibacterial properties and can inhibit the growth of bacteria. Latex material has multiple ventilation holes; allowing for good breathability.
Memory Foam: Memory foam has the ability to contours to the individual's body shape. Its slow rebound characteristics have strong shock-absorbing ability and can disperse the pressure on the human body; making it suitable for any sleeping position.
Mixed materials: In order to take advantages of the upside of different materials, mixed materials are used in combination with the aforementioned materials above to produce better resiliency effect of the mattress.
No mattress material is the best, only the most suitable. Each product material has its own characteristics. If you want to know whether the recommended mattress material is suitable for you, it is best to try it yourself.
Not necessarily. Thick mattresses may not always be the best for you. When choosing the thickness and size of a mattress, you must consider several factors, such as the mattress supporting capability; the structure of the mattress; the bed frame used to support the mattress, etc. This is what we call a sleep system. Different mattress brands have products with different thicknesses. Common mattress brands in Hong Kong usually sell mattress with thicknesses range from 2 inches to 14 inches. If the mattress needs to be moved frequently or a bed bunk frame, it is not advisable to choose a thick mattress size.
The thicker the mattress does not mean the better the support; it depends on the type and quality of the materials used in the bed structure. In the end, it is best recommended to try the mattress yourself before purchasing
How do I buy Sweetdream's mattresses?
Buying mattresses online or buying mattresses in a physical store each has its own advantages.
At present, most mattress online stores are well thought out. Mattress brands will list their product information in their online stores, including materials used, prices, features, sizes, etc. Customers can compare different mattress brands anytime and anywhere. Some may also provide a series of recommended products, which makes online mattress shopping very convenient. An online mattress store also operates 24 hours a day, so you don’t need to take into account the business hours of the store. Simply speaking, it is a very convenient way to shop for a mattress.
A physical store on the other hand allows customers to select products in person, try the product in person, and purchase mattress styles and sizes according to your personal preferences. Many physical stores have an on-site salespersons responsible for introducing different bedding products and providing mattress recommendations to customers.
Customers can purchase our product online via our webstore or through or third party platform such as HKTVMALL.
When going to a physical store to try the mattress product, you should allow enough time for lying on the mattress. We recommend at least for 15 minutes. It is recommended to wear loose and comfortable clothes; lie on the mattress and try out your usual sleeping positions for about 5 to 10 minutes. If you buy a double bed, you can try it out with your partner to see the effect when the other person turns over or changes their sleeping positions. Pay attention also to the support and hardness of the mattress. If you feel uncomfortable or feel stress points in your shoulders, hips, and waist, it means the mattress you are trying is too hard.
Mattress Care Tips
For daily cleaning of mattresses, you can use a clean vacuum cleaner to remove dust, skin debris and dust mites. If necessary, you can use a steam machine regularly to kill dust mites at high temperatures. Different methods should be used to clean the mattress according to different stains. For example, if the mattress is stained with blood, you can use lemon juice and salt water to wipe it; if you accidentally spill a drink on the bed, you can use a towel dipped in alcohol and gently press it to wipe it. We don't advise customers to use harsh chemical on the mattress as it may damage the fabric and remnants maybe harmful to your body.
Regardless of the mattress brand, as long as the mattress is properly maintained, the durability and lifespan of the mattress can be extended. Some of our tips include keeping the mattress clean; wash the sheets regularly; and optionally add a protective pad. Do not jump on the mattress as this may damage the mattress' structural integrity.
Regardless of the mattress brand, it is not uncommon for the mattress to dent or cave in after long-term use of the product. We recommend users to turn their mattress over every 2 to 3 months to allow balance elasticity on both side of the mattress.
The lifespan of a mattress is about 5 to 10 years. You can tell whether a mattress is deteriorating based on different signs. For example, even if you get enough sleep, you still feel tired, listless, or even have body pain, back discomfort, etc. after getting up. It is possible that the mattress material has deteriorated and cannot provide sufficient support for the body and spine. No material can stay perfect forever.
